This self-directed piece depicts a “Moon Goddess” giving birth to the sea, corresponding to the “Mother Earth” archetype. I chose to paint with my period blood because women's menstruation cycles are intrinsically linked with their gendered experiences, and using period blood to paint renders that visible.The unicorn fish is a creature of my invention, symbolising dreams and the subconscious mind. The goat is symbolic of spirituality, with it's horns symbolising a connection to higher realms of existence.
